Part fact – Part Allegory

Realities of the Spiritual Realm

What in the world . . . or is this otherworldly?  UFO weaponry?

Bonk goes her head as Clara crawls low to avoid an infestation.  It looks
like it could be head lice!

Bonk, bonk, bonk.  What is she running into?  Where has that pack gone?  As Clara looks up she sees what appears to be a large plow.  What is it doing in this landscape?  Doesn’t that belong to farm work?

Perimeter Plow is written on the side.  What in the heck is a perimeter plow?

Crawling to avoid any incoming flack, Clara falls into a bath!

What is a bath doing out here?  The title on this nifty little tub is judgment bath, whatever that means.  She had better be more careful, who knows what else is out there.

Ah ha, she sees a pack just ahead.  It is similar to the one that carried the clothing.  Wait a minute, just wait a minute, she thinks.  Straining her eyes to look ahead, she sees what seems to be a pit.  No it is two pits!  Worse yet, they are between her and the bundle.

These are not just ruts in the road.  They are formidable pits.  If she falls into one
of them it will be hard to climb out.  Now this is a big problem.

Gnat-like things are overhead and plows and pits are in front of her.  She has absolutely no idea how to get through to that bundle.

Stop!  Wait!  Listen!

Where did that come from?  Then she realizes it is coming from the helmet.  She almost forgot about the talking helmet.  Who cares now if it says training, she is just relieved that it is says anything!  Now, stop, wait, and listen for what?

Come on, come on, don’t they, whoever they are, know I am waiting?  Don’t they know I need help?  Waiting… waiting…

Finally, after what seems an infinite amount of time, there is a change.  The gnat-like things have been blown away by the wind.  The plow and the bath are parked along the side.  They look like props for an upcoming movie.  There is a steel plate over the top of the pits.  Now this place definitely looks like a movie set.

Clara rises, stiff from crawling, and dusts herself off.  She still has this silly looking clothing on, but somehow she has a sense that it is not that silly after all.

Perhaps these are serious training games.  It could be she is the silly one.  She needs to wake up before it is too late.

Mighty weapons defined:

The camouflage underwear:  For ye are dead and your life is hid with Christ in God i

The Flack Vest: …and having on the breastplate of righteousness ii

The vest is the protection against the flack of others’ opinions and judgments.

Often we don’t recognize that we are projecting judgment.  It may come through words and or thoughts.  Judgments come out of intellectual, preconceived ideas.  Ideas of who God is, how He works, and what we think that looks like, in real life.

Flack flies in the air like eggs thrown at an actor in a play.  Splat after splat, some of them even rotten!  Soon, you realize you are covered with something.  You don’t even know how it got there.

Thus the vest, to protect you.  It is attitude, judgment, fool, and slime resistant.

The boots:  Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread, that have I given unto you.iii

Wearing these boots doesn’t seem like feet shod with the Gospel of peace.  But then again, you are walking in enemy territory.

These are not the feet shod for peace, but shod for war.  The spikes are to put low-level demons under foot.

The helmet:  And take the helmet of salvation …iv

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.v

Clara never thought much about the helmet when she thought of the whole armor of God.  Besides, most of the thoughts in her head are just her thinking about things and situations, aren’t they?

The Bible tells us though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh.vi  It is important for the enemy’s work to remain hidden.  Thus thoughts come disguised as our own, wrapped in our particular manner, tone, and strength or weakness.

What kinds of thoughts exalt themselves against the knowledge of Christ?  Thoughts of who you are apart from Christ are a large part of the war.

Clara is about to enter some advance training in that war with the unseen.

The perimeter plow:  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist steadfast in the faith…vii

Submit yourselves therefore to God.  Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.viii

This massive piece of equipment just seems like an obstacle to Clara now.  She will soon recognize the force of the enemy as being other than her.*  She will also recognize the power of Christ’s authority through her.  When this happens, she will see this plow move into action.

Clara will also discover that she can use this plow on behalf of others.  That realization makes her much more dangerous!

Judgment bath:  Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood.IX

This is right and that is wrong.  I should do this, I shouldn’t do that.  They are wrong.  God would not lead someone into that.  Why do they behave that way?  Wrong, wrong, wrong!

Judgment is about as pervasive as control.  This kind of judgment is a pronouncing sentence on something or someone.  It is not spiritual judgment that comes by the Holy Spirit.

Why a bath?  It takes washing in the blood to remove the sticky residue that comes from judgment.  Left in place that residue is an inviting landing place for demons.

If your judgment is against yourself, they feed on you with heaped on accusation
and condemnation.  If it is against others, they feed on you and the others.  Whether it comes from you or at you, the result is a sticky mess.

Clara is going to find that bath to be a soothing relief in this training zone.

The pits:  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.x

Control, control, control . . . The battle of the wills.  You must see things this way. You
must think this way, or you must act this way.

From the obvious to the refined, there are control pits we can fall into, if we are
not walking by the Spirit.

Indeed Clara had better wake up for she is about to Enter the Zone. . .
